April 27 – May 2: The Green Girl Will Be At HotDocs in Toronto!

I know it’s been quiet lately on the public front, but believe me, it’s been super-busy behind the scenes!  It’s all about releasing the movie now.  I’ve been in talks with a number of people, and I’m waiting to hear back from plenty more about home video, online streaming, video on demand, etc.  I’ve also been working out the final details of the official Green Girl T-shirt (which will eventually be available for sale) as well as several sizes of the Green Girl Movie Poster (which will also be available for purchase).

On top of all that, I’ve been invited to privately screen the film again on Friday, April 25 here in LA at one of our most noted film schools.  And, as the headline above indicates, the major highlight of the month will be the week I’m spending at the HotDocs conference and festival in Toronto, Canada.  This is the most important annual film market/festival dedicated exclusively to documentaries held in all of North America.  While we missed the deadline to screen as part of the official festival, we will figure prominently in the market and I plan to meet with a number of potential buyers, cable and broadcast TV executives and distributors from all over the world.  Regardless of how many deals we do or don’t actually make at the event itself, the high-profile exposure will really put us on the map and help us down the road as I do start to commit to deals in May.

I hope to have more concrete news as to the exact date of release after I return from HotDocs, so please stay tuned here and/or on the Facebook page.  And THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR YOUR CONTINUED INTEREST AND SUPPORT IN THE PROJECT!

Sincerely,

George Pappy (Director/Producer – THE GREEN GIRL)

The Green Girl Trailer Is Finally Here!

Hey Everybody,

Sorry it’s taken so long, but I’ve been working hard over the past several weeks with our wonderful trailer editor Bill Woolery (check his fascinating site out here: http://www.billwoolery.com/ ) to come up with what is now the Official 2-Minute Green Girl Theatrical Trailer.

There’s not much else to say about this, so I’ll let you get on to the best part: actually watching it.  Enjoy!

The Green Girl Susan Oliver Documentary Premiere Was A Huge Success!

Hi Everyone,

I just wanted to share the great news about our very successful private premiere screening of The Green Girl yesterday at the Laemmle Royal Theatre in West Los Angeles.  We had approximately 150 people in the audience, including several of those interviewed in the film (see the photos below).  We had a Q&A session afterwards, and a lot of the audience stayed the whole time (right up until the theatre manager threw us out so they could start the next movie).

People really seemed to love the film, and it was especially gratifying to see how younger members of the audience (who didn’t really know anything about Susan) reacted to the story.

Having spent so much intensive time with the film (and having seen it SO MANY times now), I had lost a lot of perspective.  It was a huge relief yesterday to finally confirm (in front of a large audience) that this is, indeed, the film I always intended it to be.   Feeling very grateful!

Next steps: I’m working with a trailer editor and we should have something to show you by the end of the month.  Then we start working on the general release plan!
